Session 1:
Session 1 will focus on getting to know each other, sharing group expectations, and identifying stressors. We will define mindfulness, explore examples, and begin practice with focus on breathing and five senses mindfulness practices.
Session 2:
Session 2 will investigate how stress impacts physical and emotional well being, learn about Flight/Fight/Freeze and engage in a body scan to support mindfulness practice.
Session 3:
Session 3 will focus on mindfulness of thoughts and emotions and use a mindful eating exercise to deepen mindfulness practice.
Session 4:
Session 4 will engage group participants in easy, gentle yoga movements to support learning around pleasant and unpleasant events.
Session 5:
Session 5 will consider the importance of building a gratitude practice as a way to support group participants in self-care, reduce stress, and finding more joy.
Session 6:
Session 6 will review the practices, answer questions, discuss how to continue to build a mindfulness practice to support stress reduction.
