Mindful Sports Performance Enhancement for High School and College Athletes: A Six-Week Coaching Cohort

Highschool and college athletes- how much time are you spending on your mental game?  If you are in your off season or preseason and are interested in learning about the role of mindfulness in your mental training and sports performance, join us for a 6 week program that teaches athletes skills to focus and find flow. You will be working with Dr Aubree Guiffre, a trained instructor in Mindful Sports Performance Enhancement. These one hour, six week classes will provide learning and practice opportunities that you can apply to your sport immediately. You will receive suggestions for home practice to build these skills in between classes. You'll gain valuable insights and practical strategies to support your overall development, focus, and enjoyment of the sport!

Session 1: 

Session 1 will highlight introductions to each other and of the program, discussion about why mindfulness is relevant for sport performance, and a mindfulness practice of breath.

Session 2:

Session 2 will investigate how mindfulness supports performance facilitators and introduce the practice of a body scan.

Session 3:

Session 3 will explore how expectations can be a mental obstacle for athletes. We will engage in a gentle, easy mindful yoga practice.

Session 4:

Session 4 will highlight the source of expectations and how we can let go of these attachments.  We will practice a walking and eating meditation to examine the roots of attachment.

Session 5:

Session 5 will consider the importance of responding to expectations instead of reacting to them. We will use an action related to your sport as a practice meditation.  

Session 6:

Session 6 will answer your unanswered questions, review body scan, make a plan to continue your practice after the class ends and support you in your action plan.
