Meet Tara Fishler, a national Appropriate Dispute Resolution (ADR) leader, and the CEO of Customized Training Solutions, your instructor for The Conflict Coaching Micro-Certificate course! This course will help you to support others who may be involved in conflicts at work, home, or school. You will learn the Seven Steps Of Conflict Coaching and practice applying them in role play situations, practice 3-Part Listening and how to help others create viable solutions to their situations, without giving advice. You will explore various problem-solving tools through experiential activities, and discuss how to overcome obstacles You will understand how to train others in these skills and will practice presenting the skills to the group. Upon course completion, you will receive a micro-certificate attesting to your ability to coach others in conflict. This program is best suited to those in higher education settings, including Resident Assistants and Managers, and Human Resources professionals in any organization or corporation.

Session 1: 

Session 1 will focus on getting to know each other and learning about conflict coaching. We will explore the Seven Steps of Conflict Coaching and begin to practice the first step.

Session 2: 

Session 2 will explore and practice listening skills, including paraphrasing and reflection.  We will also practice asking open ended questions and building rapport.

Session 3: 

Session 3 will focus on building empathy and will discover how to apply various problem-solving tools. Participants will practice applying these skills to help people generate realistic solutions to their issues. We will also discuss obstacles to this process and how to overcome them.

Session 4: 

Session 4 will bring all the elements together to enable participants to practice full conflict coaching sessions. Then we will prepare for the train-the trainer sessions where participants will practice teaching the skills they have learned.

Session 5: 

In Session 5, different participants will lead portions of the training to prepare to teach others. They will practice leading a training with a mindfulness moment, then introduce Conflict Coaching, the Seven Steps, and listening skills. After each participant-led section, we will debrief and provide feedback.

Session 6: 

Session 6 will continue the participant-led sections with feedback.  They will present additional listening skills, as well as problem-solving and generating realistic solutions.  The session will conclude with a check in on expectations and will result in certificates for all who complete it.
